About Us

Raquel Brown - Diversity Training Coordinator

As Senior Trainer, Raquel creates, recommends and implements diversity training programs to satisfy the needs of our growing clientele. Her work includes coordination with our pool of consultants and direct communication with customers to ensure the best match between customers' needs and our team's expertise. 

Brown received her BA degree in International Development from The Ohio State UniversityA native of Costa Rica and trilingual, she has lived and studied in France, Mauritania, and Cambodia and has a true passion for discovering and understanding different cultures.  Mrs. Brown's experience includes work overseas teaching English and several short term assignments in Malaysia, Thailand, Azerbaijan and Costa Rica. Most recently, she served as a social worker for the National Youth Advocate Program.

Her extensive experience working with different ethnicities and socioeconomic groups allows her to authentically connect with diverse audiences and to clearly analyze training needs.  Raquel's focus is to deliver the highest quality experience for the individuals who participate in our workshops, seminars and trainings.


 

John W. Cavanaugh, PhD - President and CEO

 

Dr. Cavanaugh manages the day to day operations of Cross Cultural Communications and directs our public affairs division.  He previously served as Program Officer at the Charles F. Kettering Foundation, where he functioned as a liaison to National Issues Forums (NIF), a nationwide network of convenors of public policy deliberation. 

His experience also includes time as a constituent services staff assistant in the Boston office of U.S. Senator John Kerry, as a budget analyst in the office of the Massachusetts state auditor, and as a research assistant professor in the Center for Citizenship at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Dr. Cavanaugh has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Framingham State College, a master's degree in Public Affairs from the McCormack Graduate School at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and a doctoral degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina. 

He is published in numerous periodicals regarding issues including multicultural public relations, government and nonprofit relations, civic engagement, and community outreach.
